Solon Expands PV Manufacturing Capacity

After only eight weeks of construction, Solon SE inaugurated a new production line for solar modules at its manufacturing site in Greifswald, Germany this week.

The new line will create close to 60 new jobs. Through the addition of the new production line, Solon’s manufacturing site in Greifswald has effectively ramped up its capacity to 185 megawatts (MW).

An additional 900 solar modules will be manufactured per day on the new production line at an average of one every 90 seconds. The line has a yearly capacity of 50 MW. This is the fourth line of its kind in Greifswald. It produces solar modules based on crystalline technology, which are primarily used in large-scale projects. The equipment used on the new production line was purchased exclusively from established European manufacturers.

“Solon is a premium manufacturer and places the greatest demands on the quality of its products. Our manufacturing site in Greifswald makes a significant contribution to the success of the company as a whole. Expanding the capacity of this site will help us to better serve the increased demand in Germany and around the world,” said Stefan Säuberlich, CEO of Solon SE.
