Solarfun Wants A Bigger Slice of the American Market

Chinese manufacturer of silicon ingots, wafers and photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules today announced its intentions to pursue a great share of the American solar power market.

The company said that it expects to ship 30-50 MW of product to the U.S. in the second half of 2010 and that in 2011, it plans to more than double U.S. shipments – increasing total product shipped to 100-150 MW.   Solarfun has expanded its U.S. presence already by adding more marketing and customer support personnel to its North American operations.

“The U.S. and China markets will be among the most important growth markets for years to come. We are committed to capture an increasing share and are building momentum in the United States,” said Dr. Peter Xie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Solarfun.
