Solar PV to South African Rural Areas

South Africa will provide electricity to at least 30,000 households in rural areas, thanks to a German government grant agreed upon in Pretoria recently.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – May 13, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Under the plan, the German government will provide €15.8 million (US$14.36 million) to South Africa for developing solar PV home systems. Households, schools and clinics in the Eastern Cape Province and North West Province will have access to electricity through the plan.
