Solar PV Thin Film Deployment in Japan

February 17, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] Japan-based Kaneka has developed a new photovoltaic (PV) generation system which is equipped with a built-in insulator solar battery module, according to the JCNN newswire. The company will deploy the systems at four of its plants and its wholly owned subsidiary Kaneka Solar Tec and begin operation in March. The system can generate 410 kW of power, large enough to power 135 households. The new amorphous silicon solar system improves summer cooling loads by 20-30%, according to simulations Kaneka has conducted.
