Solar Project Financing Company Receives Some of Its Own

SunEdison announced that it has closed a private equity round of investment. Goldman Sachs is the lead investor, with MissionPoint Capital Partners and Allco Finance Group also investing in this round.

“We believe that SunEdison’s platform to deploy large-scale commercial solar electric systems will help transform the U.S. solar market and drive growth for many years to come.” said Alan Waxman, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. According to Jigar Shah, CEO of SunEdison, this financing round will allow the company to “build our financial strength so that we can better serve our customers’ energy needs. Securing an equity partnership with Goldman Sachs, Wall Street’s leader in alternative energy investing, speaks volumes about the strength of our energy offerings and to Goldman Sachs’ commitment to the sector.” SunEdison, LLC offers financial solutions based on solar technologies to meet the energy needs of its clients. It provides solar-generated energy at or below current retail utility rates to a broad and diverse client base — from public agencies to private enterprises to nonprofit organizations.
