[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority in Scotland is purchasing a solar-powered boat as part of a project to encourage less polluting modes of transport, and to encourage people to get out of their cars and experience the area in a more environmentally friendly way. The boat purchase is part of an effort to make National Parks in Scotland handicapped accessible. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs joined six other National Parks in northern Europe to help deliver a project called Mobility in National Parks. Funding for these works came from the Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire, Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley and Scottish Natural Heritage. Additional funding has also been secured from Europe through the North Sea Interreg Program. All the European partners are involved with pilot projects to test more sustainable modes of transport and the use of innovative new technology.
