Solar Power for STEREO Satellites

October 29, 2003 [] Somerset, New Jersey-based Emcore Corporation, a provider of compound semiconductor communications technologies, was awarded a contract to design and manufacture a set of solar panels to power the Solar-TErrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) satellite series of the Applied Physics Laboratory of the Johns Hopkins University. The STEREO project will explore the effect of Coronal Mass Ejections on the earth from a unique perspective and provide 3D images of the results. The Photovoltaics Division of Emcore will perform this contract at its Albuquerque, New Mexico, and City of Industry, California, facilities.
