Solar Olympics Held

May 13, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] The 7th Annual Solar Olympics were held recently at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with students from nearly a dozen area high schools competing. Solar Olympics, sponsored by WPS Community Foundation and UW-Green Bay, challenges competitors to construct a solar cooker, a solar water heater, a solar-powered model car, and a sculpture with a solar theme. The students display and demonstrate their “inventions” at the Olympics and compete in the “Solar Jeopardy” quiz game and a solar essay contest. This year, eight teams formally competed in the events while three teams observed in anticipation of entering the competition next year.
