Solar Manufacturing Facility Opens in Thailand

July 29, 2004 [] Thailand’s Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra opened the largest solarcell power plant in Southeast Asia at Pha Bawng village in Mae Hong Son, according to reporting from the country’s “The Nation” publication. The plant is designed to meet increasing electricity needs in the province, since the hydroelectric power plant at tambon Mae Sanga and the Mae Hong Son diesel-powered electricity plant cannot be expanded to increase their output. The solarcell power plant meets strict requirements for clean power and conservation of natural resources and the environment. The power plant was completed on April 9.
