Solar for Zurich

More than 850 solar modules are being installed on the roof of a cow barn and training school in the Zurich area of Switzerland.

ZURICH, Switzerland, CH, 2001-09-25 [SolarAccess.com] The panels will generate 85,000 kWh for the local power grid and the company that is financing the installation, S.A.G. Solar electricity AG, says it shows solar can be installed on any roof. The solar panels are particularly appropriate for this installation which offers work and training in bio-agriculture and self sufficiency as part of an institution for the care and rehabilitation of alcohol and drug addicts, say officials. The PV panels cover 820 m2 and are the start of a solar electricity power exchange involving generators in the Zurich canton. The barn and training institution concentrate on bio agriculture, and have a carpenter’s workshop and market garden with the operation operating under the guidelines of the Bio Suisse program.
