Solar energy pursuit gets OK

BROCKTON – In an age where the president is seeking money for a manned mission to Mars, city officials have moved a step closer in their quest to harness the sun.The Finance Committee on Monday night approved a plan for the mayor to negotiate a $500,000 deal with Bay State Gas Co. to sell 8.1 acres on Grove Street, off Main Street on the city’s south side, in hopes of creating a solar energy project that could potentially power 300 homes in the city…
