Smarter Grids Comply with Energy Law

[] Intelligent energy management products can help government agencies comply with mandates for the implementation of technologies that support renewable energy as outlined in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 for energy efficiency, reduction and net metering goals. The law encourages the deployment and use of advanced metering and communications technology that integrate alternative energy sources such as solar panels as well as allows excess energy to be sold back to the utility. Agencies are required to reduce energy consumption per gross square foot by 20 percent by 2015, beginning with a two percent reduction in 2006. GridPoint’s 2006 product releases will lower energy costs by 10 to 15 percent, the savings from which federal agencies may retain. GridPoint Connect leverages net metering, which federal buildings must accomplish by October 2012.
