Siemens and Shell in Negotiations for Solar Energy Joint Venture in India

Two giants in the solar industry are discussing a possible joint venture to better serve the rapidly growing market for Photovoltaics in India.

NEW DELHI — SIEMENS Solar Gmbh and Shell International Renewables are holding negotiations for a possible joint venture in solar energy. Linked through two joint ventures in Asia for over 10 years, Siemens Solar and Shell are holding discussions to determine how the cooperation could be expanded through a joint venture of their respective global solar businesses, a Shell India statement said. Siemens Solar is a joint venture of Siemens and E.on Energie and is a world leader in solar systems. Shell is involved in the manufacturing and marketing of solar photovoltaic cells, modules, systems and services. Shell has manufacturing facilities in Germany, Netherlands, India and Japan, the release added.
