The Solar Systems Division of Sharp Electronics Corporation has appointed industry veterans Steve Secrest as director of sales and Arthur Rudin as director of engineering. While at Kyocera, Secrest was responsible for key product development in solar product lines of lighting, irrigation and the recent grid-tie product line. With nearly 30 years experience, Rudin joins Sharp as director of engineering and will oversee the development and launch of all solar products for the North American market. Prior to joining Sharp, Rudin held several positions at Siemens Solar Industries. As manager, product marketing and technical services, he successfully established residential products, the SR and SP module product line, the ProCharger junction box line and new CIS thin film technology based products throughout the world. In addition, Rudin sits on the board of directors for The American Solar Energy Society and has won an “Energy Innovation” award from the U.S. Department of Energy. With a 19 percent share of the market, Sharp is the world’s leading manufacturer of solar energy products and will significantly expand solar production capacity from 94MW to 200MW in 2002.
