Schott’s New Mexico Plant Commissioned

Schott Solar AG has opened a new manufacturing facility for photovoltaic modules and receivers for solar thermal power plants in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

The company has invested more than US$100 million in the new production facility that manufactures both photovoltaic modules and receivers for solar thermal power plants. During the first phase, the annual production capacity for photovoltaic modules will be as high as 85 MW. With respect to receivers, the company plans to achieve an annual production capacity of up to 400 MW.

“With our manufacturing sites in Europe and the United States, we now have local presence in what we consider to be the key markets for solar technology,” noted Dr. Martin Heming CEO of Schott Solar.

Meanwhile, the company has also announced a completely new generation of modules for roof-integrated solar systems. The modules of the new InDaX 225 Series replace conventional roofing tiles and have a nominal output of more than 200 W. The new products are expected to be available for purchase starting in March 2010.
