April 6, 2011Schneider Electric launched the Square D 1000 VDC disconnect switch, an enclosed heavy-duty 1000 VDC solar disconnect. The easy-to install switch functions as a local disconnect for a string of photovoltaic (PV) panels and is designed for an extended life expectancy in harsh environments.

Suitable for grounded and ungrounded PV systems, the Square D 1000 VDC disconnect switch offers a preconfigured balance of system (BOS) solar solution and familiar enclosed safety switch design, with no additional components required. The extended life expectancy exceeds IEC 60947-3 mechanical endurance requirements by a factor of 18 and IEC 60947-1 electrical endurance requirements by a factor of 10. The NEMA Type 3 and IP63 enclosure is resistant to windblown dirt and dust and exceeds NEMA type 3R. It operates within a temperature range of -37 to +50°C, using a white enclosure that can reduce solar gain by up to 35% over standard grey enclosures.

Schneider Electric offers integrated solutions across multiple market segments, including energy and infrastructure, industrial processes, building automation, and data centres/networks, as well as a broad presence in residential applications. Learn more at www.schneider-electric.com
