Santa Clara Green Power Plans Solar Power Project

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] A new solar project is planned that will provide solar power for a renewable energy program by Silicon Valley Power, Santa Clara’s municipal electric utility. The utility’s renewable energy program, Santa Clara Green Power, will continue to contribute to the clean, pollution-free energy supported by the program’s participants, with plans to install 224 new solar panels on the roof of a local industrial machinery shop. The new solar system will produce 55,600 kWh of energy per year — roughly enough to power nine average Santa Clara homes. Since the program was launched a year ago it has reached a 4.35 percent participation rate with more than 2,100 customers already enrolled.
