Site Updates

Last night we updated our site again. Our development team is constantly working to improve the user experience for you and we hope that our latest updates meet, or maybe even exceed, your expectations.

So what did we update this time?::continue::

We are constantly adding new bloggers to write for the site, so we are also continuing to improve the way you read our renewable energy blogs. Check out the latest design and navigation improvements and enjoy all the new content that is being published there every day. And don’t forget to rate and share the blogs you like with the tools provided.

Reader Profiles
We have also made some design improvements to the reader profiles. Everytime one of our registered readers submits a comment or a blog entry it will now show up on the profile page. Check out my profile page as an example. Our designer and developers did a really nice job pulling this together to make it even more useful for renewable energy professionals to learn about their peers and connect with one another.

Company Search
In the renewable energy company directory section we added some new tools to the quickview function on the main listing page. We now use google maps to show the companies location. Just click on the gear symbol to the left of the listing and you have three options for more information without having to go deeper right away. The picture below explains it better than I ever could.

Miscellanous other updates
We also made numerous other updates and fixed some things that were not working quite right. Instead of going into a lot of detail about them here, I will simply provide a list for your entertainment.

  • Updated the magazine section of the site. Two more Renewable Energy magazines will be added soon.
  • Updated the e-newsletter information page and included two additional e-newsletters that readers and subscribe to – FREE.
  • We updated the way we remind our Total Access partners of their early renewal discount, which expires 60 days prior to the expiration date of their account.
  • We added the functionality to support our new solar energy e-newsletter, which will be released in August.

Feedback is Great!
As always, we really appreciate your feedback on anything we do, so please use the comment section below to let me know what you like, or dislike, about our site and what functionality or other updates you would like to see in future releases.

Thanks for reading!

From time to time I will use this blog to inform our readers about changes we are making or have made to Today I am going to tell you about some new features and a couple of updates. ::continue::

Video section update:
If you have not checked out our updated video section, you really should. We have completely revamped it to make it more navigatable and informative about the videos. We have had video on the site for only about a year and already we have 175 video clips in our database. It’s another great way to learn about what is going on in renewable energy and this section of the site will continue to grow rapidly.

Content Ratings:
As a reader you now have the ability to rate our content. We first tested this in the video section, but have now added to news articles, blogs and more. You have to be logged in, but it’s super easy to use (just select your rating from the drop down menu) and we think it will be useful for us to see what our readers like and for other readers to see how their peers have rated our content.

Reader Profiles:
Every registered reader now has a profile page on our site. We have been working on this for a while and will continue to develop this section. The idea behind this new development is that we want to create the space on our site for the world’s most active and involved renewable energy community. From now on, every time you comment on a story a link to your profile will be created. You can chose to be anonymous too, but we encourage you to use this functionality to connect with renewable energy professionals and enthusiasts around the globe.

The first step is to update your personal profile by logging in and reviewing the information we have already collected during account registration for accuracy. During this process you will have the chance to update your username and you will be asked if you want to allow other users to contact you via a form on your user profile page. More on all this later.

Content Sharing:
We have also enhanced your ability to share our news articles and other content using social media sites like twitter, facebook, digg, etc. by adding some better functionality to our article tools.

Please try out any of these new functions and improvements and let me know what you think. I would love to receive your feedback on anything related to how our site serves you as the reader and consumer or renewable energy information.
