REC Solar Installs 87 kW System at SSA Offices in California

Torrance, California [] REC Solar, in association with LAM Development, installed an 87-kilowatt (kW) solar electricity system at the Social Security Administration (SSA) Offices in Torrance. The system uses 528, 165-watt lead solder-free photovoltaic (PV) panels from the Photovoltaic Division of Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc. The system is expected to offset roughly 60 percent of the electricity consumed, which should translate to more than $20,000 in annual savings the first year. Using one Satcon 75-kW Inverter, the expected annual production is 125,000 kilowatt-hours.
