RE Awards Announced

In 2002, EUROSOLAR awards the European Solar Prize for outstanding examples and initiatives for the utilization of Renewable Energies. Since 1994, this Prize has been awarded in various categories.

Bonn, Germany – November 18, 2002 [] This year’s awards are: -in the category cities and municipalities to the `Renewable Energy Island´ Samsø (Denmark) and to the nuclear energy free municipality Windhaag (Austria); -in the category industrial and commercial enterprises to Mr. Frank Asbeck (Solar World AG, Germany) as a pioneer of the photovoltaic industry by courageous business decisions and to SOLVIS Energiesysteme GmbH & Co KG (Germany) for their sustainable zero emission factory; -in the category owners/users of Renewable Energy installations to the Institute for Marketing and Trend Analysis (Austria) for their plus energy office building; -in the category local and regional associations to the Energy Agency of North Rhine Westphalia NRW (Germany) for their public relation work for Renewable Energies; -in the category solar construction to the Beddington Zero Energy Development Projekt (Great Britain) and to the architecture office of Beat Kämpfen (Switzerland) for the house `Sunny Woods´ for six families; -Special Awards to Rolf Disch (Deutschland) for his overall commitment to solar house construction and to Prof. Bent Sørensen (Denmark) for his commitment to Renewable Energies; -a World Prize to Richard King (USA), who is the initiator of the unconventional but impressive project Solar Decathlon, a student solar village in the government district of Washington D.C., USA.
