Q-Cells AG and PowerLight Announce Solar PV Supply Agreement

Thalheim, Germany, and Berkeley, California [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] In a five-year solar photovoltaic (PV) supply agreement that will enable Germany-based Q-Cells to expand its presence in the U.S. solar market, the company will provide PowerLight Corporation with up to $150 million of high-quality photovoltaic (PV) solar cells, with a PowerLight option to increase that volume by an additional $60 million of solar PV cells. Q-Cells AG expects to produce multi- and mono-crystalline silicon solar cells with a total output of 255 megawatt-peak (MWp) in 2006 and is in the process of increasing its production capacity to 336 MWp until the end of 2006.
