January 13, 2011 – News this week from a pair of suppliers, sending solar PV process equipment to two existing (and unidentified) large polysilicon customers:

Seller: GT Advanced Technologies
Buyer: Incumbent polysilicon producer (unidentified)

This is a $101.3M follow-on order to an engineering services contract booked in fiscal 2Q12 (the September quarter), and will be added to the company’s f3Q12 (December quarter) backlog, bringing that total to well over $600M (and nearly $160M announced in just the past seven days). It’s also the company’s first sale of CVD reactors to one of the large incumbent poly-Si producers, a customer with whom it has worked “for some time,” notes GT president/CEO Tom Gutierrez.

Seller: Ranor (division of TechPrecision)
Buyer: Unidentified existing Tier-1 customer
Equipment: Polysilicon prototype vacuum chambers

This is a $4.8M deal; initial orders will be shipped in September 2012 to qualify production; more orders are anticipated to be received & ship in calendars 2012-2013.
