PowerLight Awards California Students

April 29, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] Three Bay Area high school seniors, Tamara Presser and Rena Zara of Acalanes High School in Lafayette, and Louise Lee of Mercy High School in San Francisco, were awarded top prizes of US$500 from PowerLight Corporation, each for their essays on solar and Renewable Energy – one of the competitions in the EarthTeam’s Million Kilowatt Hour Challenge (MKHC). Their essay topic was ‘What Solar and Renewable Energy Policies Can Americans Implement To Combat Global Warming.’ The essay competition was open to high school seniors in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Solano, and Sonoma counties. PowerLight Corporation of Northern California, participated in the Million Kilowatt Hour Challenge by sponsoring the MKHC essay contest. The prizes were awarded at an Earth Day celebration in San Francisco.
