Passing of a Solar Industry Notable

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] A solar PV industry notable passed away last week. Mark Fitzgerald ended a long battle with cancer quietly at home. According to friends and colleagues at the Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Fitzgerald left behind a legacy of boundless commitment to the human side of PV – the growth of a qualified workforce. Most of his work was done in the developing world where he continuously broke ground in the way he aided the creation of autonomous and locally appropriate quality assurance programs. In recent years he saw the fruit of his efforts appear in North America with the launch of NABCEP and the acceptance of the ISP as an accrediting body for renewable energy educational programs. Donations in Mark’s memory may be made to: Rombauer Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, c/o UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center, 300 Parnassus St., San Francisco, CA 94105.
