Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC wants an industry partner in a three-way collaboration with a solar energy laboratory. Dehumidification is a significant part of the air conditioning load in humid weather, and the company wants to develop an alternative to decrease demand on power generation as a result of power shortages. BBWI officials want to patent a commercializable product and is looking for an industry partner with solar or HVAC expertise. The deadline is August 30. BBWI is the prime operating contractor at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Engineering & Environmental Laboratory. The lab was established in 1949 as the National Reactor Testing Station and once had 52 nuclear reactors on its property. Only three are still operating.
