Moser Baer & LDK Announce 640-MW Wafer Deal

Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Limited (MBPV) has signed an agreement with China-based LDK Solar for the sale and delivery of multicrystalline silicon wafers over a ten-year period. Under the terms of the agreement, commencing in mid-2008 through 2017, LDK Solar will deliver multicrystalline solar wafers to MBPV for the production of 640 MW of PV cells.

The ten-year contract is based on a blend of “take-or-pay” and market linked pricing mechanisms. MBPV will make a prepayment to LDK Solar reflecting the contract value. The delivery of wafers under the new contract is expected from July 2008.

“We look forward to a long-term relationship with LDK Solar as we work towards rapidly increasing our scale of operations and capacity,” said Ravi Khanna, CEO of MBPV.
