Moore Foundation Funds Caltech Research on Solar-Driven Energy

Pasadena, California [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has awarded $6.5 million to found The Center for Sustainable Energy Research at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), which is to conduct research on solar-driven renewable-energy sources. The six-year grant targets various promising technologies that would accomplish the goal of providing fossil-fuel alternatives, and several research groups at Caltech are applying their individual expertise to various parts of the problem. The Moore Foundation funding could encourage the energy sector to invest more heavily in research and development of alternative sources of energy.
