LIPA Adjusts Solar Program Rebates

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) has adjusted the rebate rates for its Solar Pioneer Program to reflect the current prices in the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry. The current rebate level is $4 per watt for a 1,000 kW block, and LIPA is changing the rebate for additional 1,000 kW blocks bought for the same system so they decrease 25 cents per block. So, after someone purchases an original 1,000 kW block at $4 per watt the next rebate level for a 1,000 kW block will be for $3.75, and so on. LIPA will continue to monitor the PV industry prices and balance the rebates as necessary. Schools, not for profits (NFP) organizations and government customers can still apply for the current PV program rebate level up to 10 kW. They can also receive an additional $1 per watt, up to $5,000 to help offset the tax deductions that profit customer can apply for.
