The city of Conway, Arkansas is planning to become the smartest city in America using Landis+Gyr’s IoT network platform to add intelligence to many of the utility services it provides.

Conway Corp, which operates the city-owned multi-service utility system, is installing Landis+Gyr’s RF Mesh network to support advanced metering for electric and water customers, as well as its smart streetlighting initiative.

The utility plans to leverage the IPv6 communication capability of the network to streamline back-office management of multiple systems and expand consumer offerings in the future.

The utility currently provides electric, water, wastewater, streetlighting and telecommunications systems including video and internet services to city residents. Conway Corp is presenting its smart city vision at the utility industry trade event, DistribuTECH, this week.

Landis+Gyr’s connected platform of devices help utilities manage and monitor energy from the substation to the home. The company’s success with smart city deployments globally includes the largest IPv6 network in the world at TEPCO.
