Kyocera Releases First of BIPV Line

[] Kyocera Solar has introduced MyGen Meridian, the first product in its line of building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) systems. Kyocera is marketing the product for homeowners’ associations, some of which have been critical of conventional photovoltaic installations due to their ‘added-on’ look. MyGen Meridian is a type of roofing tile with PV built into it, and the BIPV incorporates a free airflow framing system for increased thermal efficiency and a ‘cassette’ type module installation. The ‘cassette’ design allows for easy installation and simple replacement of damaged modules without disturbing the roofing material. Kyocera will sell the product direct to building contractors and through the company’s authorized dealer network.
