Konarka Makes Asian Inroads in Photovoltaics

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Massachusetts start-up Konarka may not yet have a commercial solar PV product for sale, but it hasn’t stopped the thin-film solar company from making in-roads into the Asian markets with the addition of new personal. Dr. John Gui has been appointed vice president, business development, Asia, and Dr. Timothy Wang has been appointed director, corporate partnering, Asia. Born in China, Dr. Gui comes to Konarka from the Corporate R&D Center at General Electric Company where he served 15 years in various roles, including heading the organic photovoltaic R&D program, with a focus on business development throughout Asia with an emphasis on China. Dr. Wang joins Konarka from Kenly Precision Industrial Co Ltd, one of the largest metal stamping and tooling companies in Taiwan, where he led a 74-member team of the Optoelectronics Business Unit. Konarka’s photovoltaic nanotechnology is focused on delivering lightweight, flexible, scalable and manufacturable products. Konarka has a broad portfolio of patents, technology licenses and an accomplished technical team.
