Japan to Expand Production Facilities for Polycrystalline Silicon

Tokyo, Japan [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Tokuyama Corporation will construct a new plant for polycrystalline silicon in Tokuyama Factory, Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Total investment will be around 45 billion yen [$385 million] for the new plant, which will have a total annual capacity of 3,000 tons (2,500 tons for semiconductors and 500 tons for solar cells). When completed, which is expected by Spring 2009, annual production capacity for polycrystalline silicon is expected to be 8,200 tons.
