Inverter Order Tops Out at U.S. $2 Million

[] Xantrex of British Columbia has received a US$2 million order from Grupo Enerpal of Spain to supply all of the inverters for a 6 MW facility under construction near Murcia, Spain. The orders are for Xantrex’s GT100E grid tie industrial solar inverters. Grupo Enerpal is engineering and developing the power plant project on a turnkey basis for independent owners. Completion is scheduled for mid-2006 at a cost of approximately 39 million Euros (US$50 million). Enerpal has also arranged for bank financing of the project, which is eligible for a government-set electricity purchase price of 42 Euro cents (US$0.55) per kWh, significantly higher than the prevailing price for electricity from sources that pollute the environment. The project is expected to have a payback within 8.6 years.
