April 27, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] A Habitat for Humanity home being refurbished in the affordable housing area of Oak Park near downtown Sacramento, California, now taps the power of the sun with a UNI-SOLAR photovoltaic (PV) system by United Solar Ovonic. The project is a coordinated effort in response to Governor Schwarzenegger’s solar initiative to dramatically increase the use of residential solar energy throughout California. Participants in the project include Sacramento Habitat for Humanity, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s Air Resources Board, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and United Solar Ovonic LLC. Habitat for Humanity staff and volunteers assisted with the installation.
