GT Solar Delivers Tabber/Stringer to ASE Americas

GT Solar, a leading photovoltaic (PV) OEM equipment manufacturer, has delivered the first of its kind, fully-automated solar cell manufacturing equipment to ASE Americas, Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of high-performing solar electric products.

NASHUA, New Hampshire – May 30, 2002 [] ASE will use the newly designed GT-TSX100 Tabber/Stringer to interconnect solar cells with flat, copper wire, which are then assembled into solar PV modules. The GT Solar Tabber/Stringer, which can process both edge-defined film-fed growth (EFG) cells and saw-cut cells, has a high throughput and higher than 99.5 percent yield for EFG cells. “GT Solar built our EFG furnaces and laser cutters, helping to make us one of the most successful PV companies in the world,” said Tom Zarrella, COO of ASE. “We have a lot of confidence in GT Solar’s capabilities to generate leading-edge products.
