GT Solar and Yingli Green Energy Agree to $56M Silicon Furnace Contract

GT Solar has announced the signing of a $56 million contract with Yingli Green for the next generation of silicon ingot furnaces — the DSS450 from GT Solar.

This is Yingli’s fourth and largest order of GT Solar’s DSS furnaces that grow multi-crystalline ingots up to 450kg, and the purchase is expected to bring Yingli’s installed furnace capacity up to approximately 600 megawatts (MW) in 2009.

“We have worked with GT Solar since 2002, and have built an important part of our business around their equipment,” said Yingli Green Energy President, Lian Sheng Miao. “The contract will support us to ramp up our ingot capacity from current 200 MW to 400MW by the end of 2008 and 600MW in 2009.”
