Group Honored for Efficiency Programs

April 17, 2003 [] Four regional programs coordinated by Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) have been recognized as exemplary by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, as part of a national awards program to honor America’s best in energy efficiency. The NEEP programs were selected from among more than 130 nominations received from across the United States. The four programs are: Building Operator Certification (BOC), a competency-based training and certification program for building operators designed to improve the energy efficiency of commercial buildings; Cool Choice, a program jointly sponsored by utilities and efficiency organizations in New England and New Jersey that helps commercial and industrial customers choose high-efficiency unitary HVAC equipment; The Northeast Residential Energy Star Appliances Initiative, in which NEEP works with regional program sponsors to increase the availability, consumer awareness and sales of Energy Star labeled products; Northeast Regional Energy Star Lighting Program, through which electric and energy efficiency utilities jointly promote the manufacture, marketing and sale of energy efficient residential lighting products.
