German Firm Secures 1.4 MW Spanish Solar PV Project

[] Phonix SonnenStrom AG has won its first order for a megawatt-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Spain. The Spanish company TSK, which has its headquarters in Gijon, has commissioned Phonix SonnenStrom AG with the planning and construction of a solar PV plant in Toledo with a peak power output of 1.4 MW. The contract volume comes to around Euro 6.7 million [US$8.5 million], said the company. The ground-based PV plant, which is to be ready to feed into the grid by year-end 2006, is to be constructed using thin film modules from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
