Marlborough, Massachusetts [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Energy from solar panels provided by Evergreen Solar, Inc., powered a DuPont webcast earlier this week announcing the “DuPont 2015 Sustainability Goals,” which broaden the company’s environmental footprint as well as derive revenues of $6 billion from its sustainability commitments.“We’re proud of the role our solar panels played in powering this meaningful, high-profile event,” said Alan King, Evergreen Solar Director. “DuPont’s commitment to sustainability is an ideal model for companies around the globe.” Speakers at DuPont’s Washington, DC, webcast event included leaders from the World Resources Institute, Environmental Defense, and other nationally recognized organizations. Attendees included more than 160 stakeholders in business, government, public interest, financial, science and academic communities. The event earned a “Carbon Neutral” designation from The Conservation Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the environment, due to the solar power system, which was designed and installed by groSolar (GRO). “There’s no better way for DuPont to demonstrate its commitment than by using sustainable solar technology to help meet the electricity needs of this important event,” said Jeffery Wolfe, groSolar CEO. He noted that groSolar signed a four-year supply agreement with Evergreen earlier this year for solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.
