DuPont Opens New PV Technical Center

DuPont Microcircuit Materials, part of DuPont Electronic Technologies, recently opened a new technical center at its Taoyuan solar facility. Powered in part by a 4.25 kilowatt (kW) solar array, the center provides research, development and technical support for companies in the photovoltaic (PV) solar energy industry that use DuPont Solamet thick film metallization pastes.

The opening of the technical center is part of a broader expansion for DuPont Microcircuit Materials in Asia and for DuPont in the PV industry. The company also recently announced it is more than doubling capacity for Solamet at its Dongguan, China, manufacturing facility. The center includes an educational display area, in addition to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for material development and analytical services.

“This new technical center allows us to be closer to our customers in the region and will help accelerate our ability to meet their needs for materials that make PV cells and modules more efficient and less costly,” said Walt Cheng, global business director of DuPont Microcircuit Materials. “With evaluation facilities resembling our customers’ production lines, we can conduct more systematic product evaluations, troubleshoot issues more quickly and modify paste properties for maximum performance.”
