DTE Energy Foundation Recruiting Educators

The DTE Energy Foundation is still recruiting for its Educators Energy Workshop. The workshop is aimed at helping high school and middle school teachers develop their own energy education programs and integrate new materials into existing curricula.

Detroit, Michigan – July 29, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Topics to be covered in the workshop include evolving energy technology, the efficient use of electricity and the impact of energy on the environment. The free workshop will be August 12-14 at Eastern Michigan University’s Eagle Crest Conference Center in Ypsilanti. It will include materials, meals, tour transportation and one graduate credit hour from the university. A tour of DTE Energy’s Monroe Power Plant and its solar generating facility is also included. Full attendance is mandatory at all sessions to receive credit. Teachers also may obtain one additional credit hour at their expense. Grades will be based on completion of a journal that is kept during the workshop. The workshop will accommodate 50 teachers. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until August 9, 2002.
