Dow Corning PV sealant holds junction box without tape

Dow Corning released PV-8007 neutral sealant with enough bond strength immediately after application to hold a standard lightweight junction box in place without tape or other assembly aids.

September 2, 2011 — Dow Corning released PV-8007 neutral sealant with enough bond strength immediately after application to hold a standard lightweight junction box in place without tape or other assembly aids.

The silicone adhesive/sealant can be used instead of adhesive tapes and one-part RTV products in sealing, framing, and protecting photovoltaic module components, as well as for bonding and protecting junction boxes. The sealant protects against moisture, environmental degradation, mechanical and thermal shock, and vibration for longterm installation. High elasticity after cure allows flexibility in harsh field conditions.

The material is compatible with dispensing equipment and large-scale, fully automated production equipment.

Dow Corning will highlight the product at:

— European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference (EU PVSEC), September 5-8, Hamburg, Germany, Hall B6, Stand B28 and
— Solar Power International, October 17-20, Dallas, Texas, Hall C, Booth 2543.

Dow Corning provides silicones and silicon-based technology. Dow Corning is a joint venture equally owned by The Dow Chemical Company and Corning, Incorporated. Learn more at www.dowcorning.com.
