Dongying, China — CNPV Solar Power SA has entered into a long term general supply agreement with Enel Green Power SpA, Italy’s largest power company.
Under the terms of this agreement, CNPV will supply Enel Green Power with a total of 8 megawatts (MW) of PV modules from June to September 2010 at fixed prices with an option to purchase additional large volumes during this year and coming years.
“This agreement with Enel is in-line with our strategy to establish mutually beneficial, long-term relationships with companies that are well positioned to service the growing demand for solar energy,” Zhang Shunfu, CNPV’s CEO and B. Veerraju Chaudary, CNPV’s COO and CTO said in a joint statement. “Italy’s current regulations and PV installations confirm it as one of the most attractive growth markets in the solar PV industry.”
According Italian renewable energy group GSE, 2009 saw PV installations in Italy rise 720.3 MW, up from initial reports of 374 MW. Solar capacity connected to the grid in 2008 totaled 338 MW.
