City Solar Gets Long-Term Thin-film PV Supply Deal

EPV Solar Inc., a New Jersey-based thin-film solar module manufacturer, has entered into a long-term solar module supply agreement with City Solar Kraftwerke AG.

The framework agreement allows City Solar to purchase 250 megawatts (MW) of amorphous silicon modules over a period of five years with which it plans to execute its growth strategy in Europe.

EPV Solar has already begun to ship modules for the first project, a 2-MW development in Germany that is due to be completed before the end of 2008.

Later in the year, production will come from EPV’s new 30-MW per year thin-film PV manufacturing facility in Senftenberg, Germany that is scheduled to begin production in the fall.

“This new contract validates our strategy of partnering with tier-one integrators in Europe,” stated Scott T. Massie, CEO of EPV.

“We are committed to providing thin-film PV modules that achieve the lowest cost PV electricity in the world. Our goal is to help our customers achieve ‘grid parity’ on an accelerated time scale.”
