Carmanah Solar-Powered Bus Stops for California

June 14, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] The Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) – serving the municipalities of Lancaster and Palmdale north of Los Angeles, California – have purchased Carmanah’s i-STOP solar-powered LED bus stop lighting. Worth approximately $120,000, this order is one of Carmanah’s largest i-STOP orders to date. The company’s bus stops are currently installed with more than 65 transit authorities throughout North America and abroad. Carmanah said the units are quick and relatively inexpensive to install, requiring no pre-existing electrical infrastructure or hook-up to the electrical grid, providing a cost-effective lighting solution for improved transit safety, service and convenience.
