Carmanah – Solar i-Shelter Bus Stop

The first of what will soon be a total of 350 solar-powered bus shelters was recently installed at the Etobicoke Civic Center in Toronto, Canada. Designed and manufactured by Canada’s own Carmanah company, the I-Shelter bus stop structures have already achieved considerable success in Europe, including the product’s first installation for London’s transit system in 2002. The shelters combine solar rooftop solar photovoltaic panels with energy-efficient LED lighting, all while offering the substantially valuable benefit of not needing to be hard-wired into the local electric grid.
