California Solar Homes Bill Update

August 12, 2004 [] Yesterday we reported that SB 1652, the Solar Homes Bill, was to be heard in California’s Assembly Appropriations committee Wednesday, August 11. According to Environment California, one of the bill’s major sponsors, that hearing was since pushed up one more day to today, August 12 when Assembly Appropriations reconvenes. The bill was recently amended to reflect the CalEPA proposal that combines financial incentives for builders and homeowners to install solar-electric systems while establishing a backstop standard for builders to meet beginning in 2010 and reaching 50% of all new homes to be built with solar systems by 2020.
