BTU metallization tool withstands 60-million-cell test

BTU International tested its TRITAN HV90 dual-lane metallization firing system in production of more than 60 million cells, saying that the marathon test shows how dual-lane metallization can lower COO and increase capital efficiency.

December 12, 2011 — BTU International, Inc., advanced thermal processing equipment supplier, tested its TRITAN HV90 dual-lane metallization firing system in production of more than 60 million cells.  BTU International states that the marathon test shows how dual-lane metallization can lower cost of ownership up to 30% and increase capital efficiency 35%, compared to single-lane systems for silicon photovoltaics manufacturing.

The TRITAN HV90 dual-lane metallization firing system processes 3600 wafers per hour (WPH) using an edge belt, VOC abatement, and a single zone spike in under 3 seconds. TriSpeed — three-belt, three-speed — technology enables ramp rates of up to 200ºC per second without problems for drying and cooling.
