BTU metallization tool optimized for volume Si PV fab

BTU International debuted the TRITAN HV90 metallization firing system for silicon photovoltaics manufacturing. The HV90 offers 3600 WPH throughput, an edge belt, VOC abatement, single-zone spike with >3s spike time, and BTU’s TriSpeed technology.

September 28, 2011 — Thermal processing equipment maker BTU International (Nasdaq:BTUI) debuted the TRITAN HV90 metallization firing system for silicon photovoltaics manufacturing.

Features include 3600 wafers per hour (WPH) throughput, an edge belt, volatile organic compound (VOC) abatement, and a single-zone spike with less than 3 seconds spike time. BTU?s TriSpeed three-belt, three-speed technology enables ramp rates of up to 200°C/sec.

PV manufacturers switching to dual-lane metallization can expect a 35% increase in capital efficiency, said Bob Bouchard, BTU product marketing manager for metallization products. In trials, TRITAN showed an improvement in fill factor.

BTU will exhibit at PV Taiwan, booth 1305, October 5-7, Taipei World Trade Center, Taipei, Taiwan.
