BP and Roofing Company to Jointly Offer Solar Roofing

BP and Old Country Roofing (OCR) have signed an agreement to offer turnkey solar roofing solutions to more than 100 homebuilding companies and homeowners.

“Our relationship with BP Solar will enable us to significantly expand our solar installations for both homebuilders and homeowners in Northern California,” said Aaron Nitzkin, vice president of solar operations at OCR. Founded in 1967, OCR installed more than 12,000 roofs in 2005. The program will use BP Solar’s EnergyTile product, a roof-tile design that blends seamlessly into the design of the roof. The new solar roofing package, which includes design, installation, warranty and customer service, will be available beginning in January 2007. “Solar modules have come a long way. They have morphed into a standardized, predictable, affordable roofing product,” added Nitzkin. “Including solar into the build plan actually lowers the cost of installation for the homeowners,” said Paul Garvison, director of business development for BP Solar North America.
